History
Blue Sky Bicycles was started in 1998 by Liz Gormley, a bicycle industry veteran.
Liz started working at the Bicycle Exchange in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1977. Although she had no particular passion for bikes, Liz needed a job to pay her way through school and the Bicycle Exchange was hiring.
That inauspicious introduction to the bicycle turned into a life long love of cycling. Liz raced both mountain and road bikes, becoming a Category One rider in both disciplines. She moved onto coaching and served for years as a staff coach in Colorado Springs, CO for the United Stated Cycling Federation (now known as Cycling USA). After coaching at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul Korea, Liz turned her energy to the business of bicycles.
After a decade of working as a sales rep, a sales manager and a director of sales and marketing for several bicycle companies, Liz opened Blue Sky. The primary aim of Blue Sky was to create a retail environment that would do justice to cycling, a sport that has meant so much to Liz and that she has loved for close to 40 years.
